Kara & Will | Rock Hill, SC Engagement Session

I already shared our serendipitous story on Instagram, but it’s so cool to me it belongs here, too.

We moved to Charlotte in February, and I hired someone to help me put together a bunch of large IKEA furniture (I literally opened the boxes & trillion pieces, looked at my screaming children, and said, “NOPE.”)

Fast forward a few weeks later. If you’re a photographer, you know Facebook posts beginning with, “in search of a photographer…” are absolute bloodbaths, lol. Literally hundreds of names can be thrown in in like an hour. I rarely throw my name in the mix, but for some reason I did this time. Maybe it was because I am new in the city, and really missing shooting. Anyway, the original poster (Kara!) messaged me. We exchanged a few messages, and after a while, I decided to creep on her profile. My mouth dropped open when I saw her fiance was the same guy who had helped me a few weeks ago. This may not sound too crazy, but in a city of 872k people, I found it pretty awesome.

SO ANYWAY.

Since I am new here & literally know nothing, plus everything shut down just a few weeks after we moved here, Kara suggested Glencairn Gardens in Rock, Hill SC for their engagement session. It couldn’t have been more perfect! It was so gorgeous and peaceful there. The gardens were beautifully maintained and it just had a great vibe. It felt so good to get out and be normal again after the restrictions were lifted, the gardens were full of people but everyone maintained proper distancing. (Except Kara & Will, wink wink * drum sound *. I’ve got dad jokes, too, Will!)

They were so patient with me, and I loved getting to know them and their story. Will had dad jokes for days, and Kara somehow managed to keep a straight face when I asked. (They’re also still together after 2 months of quarantine, so that alone deserves some applause.)

I’m so happy they were my inaugural engagement session here in the Charlotte area. <3
