Senior portraits just might be one of my favorite types of sessions. It's such a pivotal moment in your life- on the cusp of adulthood and the rest of your life. You've probably figured out who you are by now (or maybe you haven't- hey I'm 31 and still thinking about it, haha) but you still have a lifetime of growing to do.
I want your session to be fun. I want it to show your personality, your quirks, and your passions. I am always up for new adventures, so if you have a fun idea (even if you think it might sound insane) let me know & I will try my best to make it a reality! Think outside the box.
A few suggestions on what to wear for your session...
Wear something you feel comfortable in, makes you smile, and that you feel your personal best in. I usually recommend at least 3 different outfits for senior sessions.
Layers are awesome. Don't be afraid to pile it on- scarves, jewelry, hats, sunglasses, whatever! Properly accessorized outfits really add interest to photos.
Different textures also add great dimension to an image.
Outfits with movement are some of my favorite. A flowy shirt, a tulle skirt, or a maxi dress that catches the breeze- anything you can creative beautiful movement in.
If you can swing it, having your hair & makeup done professionally can be a great way to get in the mood and feel glamorous.
If you're involved with a team or activity, bring your uniform if you'd like to get a few shots wearing it.
Keep in mind your location in regards to your outfit. An outfit might be perfect in front of a rustic barn, but look out of place on a city sidewalk.
Think about the look you're going for in your photos. Do you want trendy & edgy (bold colors, patterns) or whimsical & ethereal (creams, pale neutrals)?
Don't be afraid of patterns, or even mixing them.
Don't wear visible brand name prints.
Don't forget small details- your nails painted, clothes ironed, brows plucked, etc.
Wear sneakers unless they're "fashion-forward." (Converse, Vans, high tops, etc.)
Girls, these are some of my favorite places to shop for YOU (beautiful, flowy dresses galore!):
Guys, these are always safe bets for clothing options:
WHAT TO EXPECT AFTER
We had the best time together, right? :) In the days following our session, you can expect to see some "sneak peeks" on Facebook- feel free to tag/share! I am always so flattered when clients use my photos on social media, I just ask that you give me a tag to help spread the word. Your full gallery will be ready within two weeks of the session, and I will email you the link for access. The download process is simple, but if you have any issues please don't hesitate to contact me. Although you'll receive a print release, you are able to order professional grade prints through your gallery. I cannot stress enough that is does matter where you get your photos printed! www.mpix.com is a more affordable alternative, and is available to the public. I am passionate about getting your photos off of your computer and onto your walls- beautiful canvas wraps, high-quality photo books, and premium prints are all amazing ways to preserve your memories for years to come. Your great-grandchildren won't be holding a hard drive, they'll be holding an actual photograph of you.
Full payment (cash, check, or card) is due at the time of the session.
