I've known this family since we were stationed in Germany together (Nick was my husband's commander) and we were all pre-children at that point. So I absolutely love being here at West Point with them, and getting to see them in the roles of parents! Sweet little Cait had been wished for for a long time, so to see her finally there in her mama's arms was so special.
I literally spent the entire time obsessing over how beautiful she is, and how alert and observant she is already. Seriously, she is perfect. I wanted to snuggle her all day! And now I kind of want another baby girl. ;)
Since we don't have family nearby, or too many friends with children Finn's age, we decided to celebrate his turning two by having a "Finn Day"- complete with all of his favorite things.
Waking up to balloons, fun pancakes, opening presents, McDonald's for lunch, cupcakes, splashing in puddles with Daddy, an epic nap with Mama, building the world's longest train track, Target to pick out his favorite juice and run wild down the aisles (sorry Target), the arcade, kissing puppies at the pet store, pizza for dinner, and watching a movie snuggled on the couch with Mommy, Daddy, & Willow.
I hope he felt even an ounce of how much he means to us. We love you more than life, sweet boy!
How is this handsome little man two already!? Pretty sure I was just doing his mommy's maternity photos.
Parker- you make the world a brighter place! Happy birthday buddy!
(P.S. I love the realness of this session. It's reality, it's their lives at that very moment. If you want a family photo of you with forced smiles staring into the camera, I am not the girl for you. Grateful for friends who understand, love, and appreciate that about my photography. :))
What an adorable family! Seriously, I am so in love with the photos we got from their session! Shannah wanted outdoor pictures originally, but we live in Upstate NY where it's literally winter half of the year (wah wah.) So we compromised and did the majority of the session in their home (where I got to play dinosaurs :)), but snuck outside for a few minutes to get some shots. I am so glad we did, because the way the late afternoon sun ended up filtering through the snow-covered trees and the way the breeze would randomly cover the four of them in sparkly snowflakes was pretty darn magical. :)
I definitely fell a little bit in love with this tiny one. She was so precious, and so sleepy. ;) She made my job way too easy- I have never not had to edit a newborn's skin! And those little yawns had the baby fever kicking' in big time.
She is clearly very much loved & cherished by her sweet mama & daddy. Thanks for letting me share such a special, and fleeting, moment in your lives.
I absolutely adore this family.
Getting to take photos of them is always a treat, and now with their newest addition it was even more fun.
Julie is somewhat of a role model for me. She just exudes this peacefulness- even in her moments when I know she has to be stressed & overwhelmed, she seems at peace. She has a quiet inward beauty that matches her outer beauty. If I can figure out her secret, I'll share. ;)
And I honestly can't get over how sweet Eleni was towards her new baby sister. She was constantly running over to check on her, give her a quick kiss, or just murmur "I love you" into Audrey's tiny ears. What an amazing big sister she is- Johnny & Audrey are lucky they'll have her looking over them for their whole lives.
At one point, Julie joked, "Liza is going to go home & tell Zack 'WE ARE NEVER HAVING ANOTHER BABY' after seeing us!" That couldn't be further from the truth. Yes, it was a little chaotic at times with three little ones, but there was such a beauty in that chaos, such love. If anything, it made me want a bigger family ASAP. I loved watching them. Eleni twirling and chattering while Johnny made Buzz (& his orange) fly over all over the room, Julie & John still finding time to laugh together and steal kisses from one another, while the baby slept away in her mama's arms.
Being a family of 5 suits you guys, it really does.
What a gorgeous family. Seriously, models right?
This is why I love lifestyle sessions. Everyone is more relaxed, we go with the flow, and the interactions are so genuine. Sweet little L wasn't giving up her smiles easy, but I got a few. ;)
Thanks for letting me hang out at your (perfect & amazing smelling even though y'all have two dogs) home, Jess! I had the best time.
You know how some people make motherhood look like a breeze? Yeah, Aubrey is one of them. She's only been a mama for about five months now, but looks like a professional. You can just tell she's a good one.
I could tell pretty early on that Lilly bug has her mommy & daddy wrapped. By the end of our time together, I understood why. From her big, bright eyes and genuinely sweet nature to the way she crosses her little ankles (such a lady!) and points those baby toes- she'll hook ya. ;)
I won't even get into what that little pink tutu did for my baby fever.
